The 201 Artistic Storytelling Workshop is perfect for young authors who have completed the 102 Advanced Storytelling workshop and would like to make their writing more sophisticated. This workshop introduces the concepts of story themes and telling a story within a story. It also amplifies the use of simile and metaphor to make for far more artistic narratives. Students will compose a single story across five (5) sessions, enhancing it with new artistic techniques learned each session.
Topics Covered
Unit 1: Thoughtful Themes
Unit 2: Fascinating Framing
Unit 3: Masterful Metaphors
Unit 4: Precise Pauses
Unit 5: Terrific Titles
Delivery
Delivery can be face-to-face or virtual via Zoom, depending on what fits a particular group.
Required Reading
“Adrian at Loggerheads” and “Adrian at Liberty” by Mario Herbert will be used to illustrate techniques taught in this workshop.
It is highly recommended for students to especially read the stories, “The Evolution of Adrian Manning”, “Roll Back” and “The Search” before commencing this workshop as many of the principles taught can only be fully realised in context of an entire story.
